Warta Poznań Sports Club
Warta Poznań, founded on 15 June 1912, is the oldest existing football club in the capital of Greater Poland and one of the oldest in the country. The „Greens” footballers were everywhere where something important for Polish football was happening, they represented Poland at the Olympic Games and World Championships. In 1927, Warta Poznań was one of the founders of the football league in Poland, today’s Polish Premier League. Over the years, the WARTA Sports Club has also developed in other directions. Many sports sections have been established. The most important of these currently active are canoeing, hockey, fencing, swimming, tennis, and water jumping.
Warta Poznań S.A.
In 2011, the non-profit company WARTA POZNAŃ SA was established, separating football from the other sports, which continue to operate under the name KS WARTA. Since then, the „Greens” football team has started climbing the ladder of football competition anew, to return to the Premier League in 2020 after an absence of 25 years. Currently, Warta Poznań is 9th in the medal classification of the Polish championships.
For many years, Warta Poznań has focused on training young people, who are the strength and greatest value of the Club. Educating young talents and supporting them on their career path builds invaluable bonds, which are the basis of the tradition and history of Warta Poznań. Currently, more than 360 children, boys and girls, train at the Academy. Their development is supervised by a wide cadre of specialists. Training at the Warta Poznań Academy is based on an original model of work, which it constantly tries to improve and develop, among other things, thanks to further training of coaches.
Warta Poznań Women and Warta Poznań AMP Futbol
In 2020 the women’s football section started to function again at the club after an absence of 18 years. Earlier in 2002, the female team reached the bronze medals of the Polish championships. The next step is to establish an 'adult’ women’s team and encourage women to become involved in the Club’s community.
Warta Poznań also supports people with disabilities and senior citizens. In December 2019 AMP Futbol disabled football section was launched. This is the first football team for amputees in the capital of Wielkopolska and in the region in general. Initially, the team consisted of 8 people, but there are now 19 players and it is still growing. The third season in the Ekstraklasa is now being played by the AMP Football „Greens” team, which is the fourth force in Poland. This year Marcin Oleksy won the 2022 FIFA Puskás Award for his astonishing scissor-kick goal.
